Ramy Ashour Backs Out From Qatar Classic

World number one and top seed Ramy Ashour of Egypt has withdrawn from the 2010 Qatar Classic squash tournament which starts November 8 at the Khalifa International Squash complex in Doha.
England’s Joey Barrington has replaced Ashour in the round of 32.

Injured Ashour, who defeated compatriot Amr Shabana in the Kuwait Open final in the first week of last month, has been advised rest by the doctors.
The 20-year-old former world champion from Cairo won the World Championships in 2008. He won the Qatar Classic in 2007.
In Ashour’s absence, a group of five former Qatar Classic champions will be eager to win the PSA Super Series squash title for a second time in Doha.
Qatar Classic celebrates its tenth successive year at the Khalifa International Squash Complex.
Surprisingly, only England’s Peter Nicol has won the prestigious title more than a single time.
Englishman James Willstrop lifted the title in 2005, Amr Shabana claimed the trophy in November 2007, his compatriot Karim Darwish, the 2008 champion, Frenchman Thierry Lincou last reaped success in Doha in 2004.
Australia’s David Palmer is making his tenth successive Qatar Classic appearance in Doha.
The 34-year-old former world number one and two-time world champion boasts four appearances in the Doha final - in 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2007 - but has yet to clinch the title. Defending Champion Nick Mathew and world number two is now the top seed of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the qualifying rounds of the $221,500 tournament, kicked off yesterday.
